OP West & Pelly North
The OP zone was first discovered by Placer; however, drilling by Selwyn has demonstrated that the zinc-lead mineralization is more extensive than initially determined. Drilling by Selwyn has shown the zone to be moderately southwest dipping and cut by numerous imbricate southwest dipping thrust faults that chop up the zone.
Geochemical soil sampling and geologic mapping defined a target area located 3.5 kilometers northwest of the OP zone which was tested with drill hole OP-017 which intersected 20.04 metres of Active Member grading 1.59% zinc and 0.47% lead. Stratigraphic drilling continued a further 4 kilometres to the northwest on the Pelly North target where a long interval of 40.36 metres of Active Member was intersected grading 0.95% zinc and 0.23% lead. Seven holes were completed in the Pelly North target with 3 holes intersecting the Active Member. Although lower grade than zones further southeast, testwork demonstates that dense media separation provides an effective upgrading of the mineralized bands.
Drilling in the OP West and Pelly North extended the distance of the mineralized Active Member an additional 7.5 kilometers giving a total length of approximately 38 kilometres. The Abbey geochemical target lies an additional 16 kilometers to the northwest of Pelly North and represents a future exploration target. Additional drilling is required to determine if the grade of mineralization changes laterally in the basin in this location.
