HP Zone

HP Zone

The HP zone lies on Selwyn's wholly owned HP claims that cover strong geochemical anomalies within the same sequence of Silurian shales that host the Howard's Pass deposits. The claims are located 1.6 kilometres to the east of the XY zone. Four 1970's drill holes on the HP Property tested the Active horizon over a strike length of 900 metres. The holes yielded encouraging results including an intersection of 2.9% zinc and 0.8% lead over 6 metres.

The favourable Active Member rocks in this target occur on the east limb of a synclinal structure that hosts the XY deposit down dip to the west. Three drill holes in 2005, further tested the Active Horizon with the most northwesterly drill hole intersecting 9.5 metres grading 5.35% zinc and 1.44% lead.

The thin mineralization in the drill holes on the HP claims appear to define the east edge of the XY deposit and suggests potential for significant improvement in thickness and grade down dip to the west towards the keel of the synclinal structure that hosts the XY deposit. The improvement in grade in the most northwesterly HP drill hole suggests that the Active Member is thickening in that direction and is likely continuous with the Brodel deposit.
