Defining the World's New Zinc Supply

Selwyn Resources Ltd. is a publicly traded, Canadian base metals exploration and development company. The company's core project is the World class Selwyn Project, located in eastern Yukon. The project has reactivated the Howard's Pass zinc-lead district, and since 2005 the company has spent over $44.484 million on exploration, development and environmental programs. The $21.529 million spent on exploration in 2007 focused on over 37,209 metres of diamond drilling, environmental baseline, and site engineering studies. The program is focused on providing detailed information for completion of a prefeasibility study, and to support a permitting application in 2008.

In January 2007, Selwyn Resources completed a Preliminary Assessment for the Selwyn Project which indicated excellent potential for a long life mine, having large-scale, low cost zinc and lead production. An updated NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate was released in April that reported on the nine deposits that occur over a strike length of 26.2 kilometres. The company's Selwyn Project land holdings extend beyond, to cover 321 square kilometres of claims covering 66 km long trend of the Howard's Pass District.

On May 31, 2007, Selwyn Resources was formed through a reorganization of Pacifica Resources. The reorganization included the creation of a new exploration company, Savant Explorations Ltd. The purpose behind the reorganization is to allow Selwyn Resources to solely focus on the Selwyn Project, and to allow Savant to advance the other existing properties in Canada, United States and Chile.

Selwyn Project Highlights
  • New Mineral Resource stating 154,350,000 tonnes grading 5.35% zinc and 1.86% lead of Indicated resources, and 231,540,000 tonnes grading 4.54% zinc and 1.42% lead of Inferred resources
  • New Mineral Resources includes high grade underground mineralization with 16,063,800 tonnes grading 10.25% zinc and 4.43% lead of Indicated resources, and 23,156,000 tonnes grading 8.86% zinc and 2.80% Inferred resources.

  • Preliminary Assessment of development alternatives based on pre 2007 Mineral Resource Estimate and project economics indicates a very robust project with pre-Net Present Value, discounted at 8%, of $836 million and very attractive cash cost of zinc production after deducting lead credits.
  • 2005, 2006 and 2007 drilling has resulted in the discovery of 13 individual deposits that define the mineralized strata over a continuous 37.5 km, significantly expanding resource potential.
  • Dense Media Separation testwork indicates gravity is an effective pre-concentration step in upgrading run-of-mine mineralization for mill processing.
  • Search for a strategic partner investment resumed in early 2008 as a key component of effectively advancing the Selwyn Project and crystallizing its inherent value.
